deVilliers Circle

In 1949, Blood Cancer United was founded on a vision, by parents who’d lost a son to ‎acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since then, Blood Cancer United continues to push ‎boundaries as we seek cutting edge treatments and cures and work to improve quality of ‎life for patients and their families.

The de Villiers Circle is comprised of candidates who ‎share our bold vision of a cancer-free future and showed outstanding achievement in their ‎fundraising efforts.‎

About Visionaries of the Year

Visionaries of the Year is a movement driven by a select group of individuals from different ‎locations and walks of life, coming together for a greater purpose: a cancer-free world. ‎Candidates in this philanthropic competition form and lead powerful fundraising teams ‎that help find innovative ways of fueling the Blood Cancer United mission. With their ‎teammates behind them, this exceptional group competes in honor of two local blood ‎cancer survivors for the prestigious title of Visionary of the Year

A Legacy of Hope

The first campaign was held in Northern California in 1990 to benefit a local blood cancer ‎patient who lost his life at age 39 to leukemia. Over the next 30+ years, the campaign ‎would spread throughout the United States and Canada to become one of the most ‎innovative and impactful peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns in the industry. Throughout ‎its 30+ year history, the campaign has raised more than half a billion dollars for the Blood ‎Cancer United mission.‎
